A City Largely Frozen In Time in the Wake of the 1959 Revolution
Table of Contents
A. About Havana
Nickname: City of ColumnsHavana, Cuba’s vibrant capital, is a city rich in colonial history, culture, and architectural splendor.
Largely frozen in time in the wake of the 1959 Revolution, Havana is one of South America's most unique destinations.
Havana’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts a treasure trove of Spanish colonial buildings, cobblestone streets, and lively plazas.
Admire vintage American cars, pastel-colored colonial buildings, and listen to salsa music.
➕ The Good
Havana enjoys, first of all, a scenic location on the northern coast of Cuba with several low hills, and enjoys on top of that excellent climatic conditions.
Furthermore, the city scores solidly for its sights and pedestrian zones.
Finally, the nightlife is considerably vibrant.
➖ Negative Aspects
Havana is (especially outside of Old Havana) not a clean city with a poor environmental record.
Furthermore, the Cuban capital is no shopping paradise, the assortment in the shops is limited.
With basic common sense, Cuba is a safe city to visit. But there are sadly rather frequent scams and hustlers.
