Where Moorish Splendor Meets Vibrant Souks
Table of Contents
A. About Marrakesh
Nickname: The Red CityMarrakesh is rightly considered to be the most beautiful city in Morocco and one of Africa’s best destinations.
Nowhere else is the unique atmosphere of the country, the fairytale atmosphere of a thousand and one nights, so much to be felt as here. Marrakech fascinates by its side-by-side of elegance and rustic everyday life, completely different compared to European or Asian cities.
Whether an atmospheric walk at Jemaa El Fna Square in the evening, a shopping trip in the souks, or a visit to the city’s Moorish architecture: Marrakech is full of highlights.
The Good:
First of all, with more than 3,100 sunshine hours annually, Marrakesh enjoys (apart from July and August when it is too hot) excellent climatic conditions.
Furthermore, the city scores high for its sights and pedestrian zones mainly in the medina.
Finally, prices in Marrakesh are rather low.
The Not-So-Good:
Marrakesh suffers first of all from its extremely pushy and somewhat inevitable salesmen, resulting in a low rating for people.
Furthermore, Marrakesh is not a clean city, and its location is not remarkable at all.
Moreover, the Morrocan city is not a shopping paradise, the assortment in the shops is limited.
Finally, public transport is very weak, so you will have to rely on taxis.
